What is ShopPerformance?

With the new tool ShopPerformance, we offer you a tool to identify possible performance improvements in your online store.

Select the domain you want to check in the Managed Center and start the scan with one click. After the scan, you will receive suggestions and recommendations to improve the performance of your online shop.

What do we offer you?

First, we check whether the server settings match your website. For example, we check whether caches are configured sufficiently large or how PHP is configured.

In addition to the server settings, we also check the settings of the online shop - both for Magento 1 & 2, as well as for Shopware 5 & 6. We then compare these with our best practices, based on our many years of experience as a hoster of high-performance online shops.

Furthermore, we also access Google PageSpeed Insights and automatically determine some selected values.

Please note: Unfortunately, we cannot offer this service for Debian 8. We therefore recommend that you update to Ubuntu. Please contact our support team at +49 5251 / 414130 if you have any questions.

What happens exactly?

Although there are already many tools, such as "PageSpeed Insights", that check the performance of websites, as a specialized hosting provider we still have other options to consider.

By directly accessing the file system and database of the respective web application, we can check it locally. For this check, we have built a tool that recognizes the web application and performs application-specific checks in case of a supported application (currently Magento 1 & 2 and Shopware 5 & 6). In addition, we also check the server settings and can often provide valuable information even in the case of non-supported applications.

What do we test?

The list of our performance checks is regularly extended according to our experience and developments. Currently, for example, we check server settings such as Opcache, PHP-FPM Worker, Varnish as well as MySQL InnoDB Buffer Pool.

In addition, we check application settings such as cache backends or the application mode (Magento 2). And via Google PageSpeed Insights, we can also determine values such as the total size of images and videos.

Do you have other parameters that we should include? We are always happy to receive further suggestions at support@maxcluster.de.

How else can I improve my performance?

In our blog series on performance, we've written up several tips:

By the way, if your website still has a high TTFB (Time To First Bite) despite the recommendations from ShopPerformance, using a profiler like Tideways can often help. We have also written a blog series about this: Identifying bottlenecks with 3 efficient profiling tools
