Executive Summary
WOHN-DESIGN’s Magento shop had grown over many years, and the relaunch needed to make it faster, more accessible, and technically future-proof at the same time – without any data loss or extended downtime. Galileo Webagentur rebuilt the frontend using Hyvä, while maxcluster ensured a stable hosting environment, controlled deployments, monitoring, and technical support for staging and go-live.
The result: mobile Lighthouse performance rose from 41–53 to 91–100 points, while the shop remained stable even during traffic spikes.
In brief
Customer/Shop: WOHN-DESIGN
Industry: Furniture retail
Platform: Magento
Website: www.wohn-design.com
Agency: Galileo Webagentur OHG
Starting point: An established setup – and a relaunch with several goals at the same time
WOHN-DESIGN’s Magento shop, an online furniture retailer, had grown over the years into a comprehensive e-commerce platform—with several thousand products, custom product configurations, and a wide range of editorial content.
The relaunch was therefore meant to deliver more than a new design: WOHN-DESIGN wanted to improve performance and the user experience, take accessibility requirements into account, and set the shop up technically so it would remain maintainable in the long term.
Challenges: migrating without losing rankings – and accessibility as a genuine project goal
Two points were particularly in focus:
- Securely migrate data and SEO
Product, customer and order data as well as content and SEO-relevant page structures had to be transferred to the new setup automatically and without loss. At the same time, the ongoing business operations should not be affected by the relaunch due to longer downtime. - Consider accessibility from the very beginning
With a view to the Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSG), the new frontend was to be much more strongly geared towards accessibility. The existing frontend structure with historically grown templates, inconsistent HTML and complex dependencies would have required extensive rework for this.
Solution: Hyvä as the foundation for a lean, accessible frontend
To modernise the established structures while improving performance, maintainability and accessibility, the frontend was rebuilt from the ground up. With its modern, lightweight frontend architecture, Hyvä provided an ideal foundation and has been in use at WOHN-DESIGN since the relaunch in July 2025.
Project implementation: analysis, rebuild, fine-tuning
Switching to Hyvä meant a comprehensive frontend rebuild for Galileo. First, the existing shop architecture was analysed and numerous modules, custom features and integrations were checked for Hyvä compatibility. Where adjustments were required, functions were revised or reimplemented.
The new frontend was built on Hyvä, Tailwind CSS and AlpineJS. Accessibility was taken into account directly in the templates – including semantic HTML structures, screen reader-friendly interactions and ensured keyboard operability. Supporting self-tests helped with implementation.
Visually, the design was also deliberately pared back: clear structures, bright surfaces and fewer visual distractions put the designer furniture more firmly centre stage.
Checkout: less complexity, a clear process
Hyvä Checkout was used for the checkout. The form complexity was reduced and the process was set up in two steps. The user experience improved and the bounce rate decreased.
Performance optimisation: reduce resources, improve rendering
Why maxcluster: Stable operations – and peace of mind around go-live
There was no formal comparison of multiple hosting providers. What mattered instead was the experience with the previous hosting: repeated outages, performance issues, and support that was perceived as unhelpful and slow.
For the new shop, the key requirements were therefore a high-performance and stable infrastructure, scalability for peak loads, personal support, and assistance with staging and deployment processes. In particular, the flexible hardware scaling, comprehensive monitoring, and the quality of support were what tipped the balance in favor of maxcluster.
The project team describes how this plays out in day-to-day work very directly:
Since the move, we no longer have to worry at all about the web shop’s availability and performance. If there ever are any issues, support is reliably on hand—helpful and sometimes even proactive.

Implementation with maxcluster: staging, deployments, monitoring – and a controlled transition
Around the go-live, the hosting infrastructure played a key role. Thanks to prepared deployment processes, close monitoring, and coordinated security and backup strategies, the transition was implemented in a controlled manner and without prolonged downtime.
Especially during the intensive development and migration phase, reliable staging and test environments were essential. This was complemented by close technical coordination on infrastructure and performance topics—such as deployment processes, cache configurations, scaling, and monitoring—where maxcluster actively supported optimization.
Results: Lighthouse in the green zone – and stable even during traffic spikes
The impact is particularly clear in the Lighthouse measurements:
- Before the relaunch: mobile, depending on page type 41–53 points (red/orange)
- After switching to Hyvä: Homepage, category and product pages 91–100 points (green)
This noticeably improved loading times and the user experience, especially on mobile devices
Stability also improved: the shop remained stable, especially under load. Deployments, cache processes, and response times benefited from the hosting environment specialized in Magento— even during traffic peaks, the platform remained stable and high-performing.
Conclusion
The relaunch of WOHN-DESIGN shows how frontend architecture and hosting work hand in hand: Hyvä provides the foundation for a leaner, more accessible frontend, while maxcluster supports stable operations with staging, deployments, monitoring, and scaling. The result is a significantly faster shop that remains stable even during traffic peaks.
