FAQ about Akeneo Hosting at maxcluster

In this FAQ article, we provide an overview of the PIM solution Akeneo, its technical requirements and installation at maxcluster.

From 01.09.2022, the Community Edition of the PIM system Akeneo can be officially hosted at maxcluster. In the following, we show what needs to be considered with regard to hosting Akeneo.

What is Akeneo?

Akeneo is a PIM system (short for Product Information Management System) that is available under an open source licence. With Akeneo, product data can be centrally maintained, managed and updated. Relevant product data from all stakeholders involved can be fed into the system from different sources and enriched there. The data can then be distributed to relevant distribution channels.

Why is the use of Akeneo worthwhile in e-commerce?

Data consistency is an important issue in e-commerce. The larger the online shop, the more product data must be maintained and always be up to date. Especially in combination with Shopware and Magento, the use of Akeneo is often advantageous.

Shop operators benefit, for example, from a significantly reduced expenditure of time and resources in the maintenance of data as well as from a lower susceptibility to errors. Akeneo also simplifies product data maintenance with regard to multilingualism and internationalisation. In addition, distribution channels no longer have to be maintained individually, but can be recorded automatically via the PIM system.
